When one thinks of American wine, no doubt she thinks of wine produced in California. California produces almost 90% of wine made in the USA and its vintages easily rival those from leading wine-making countries, such as Italy, France, Spain, and Australia. In fact, California-produced vintages of Bordeaux and Burgundy beat out heavily-favored French wines at the epic 1976 wine tasting competition known as the Judgment of Paris - the first time U.S. wines were ever considered to be in a league with their European counterparts.
