Travelers who like to experience cities by bicycle are really lucky these days, as more and more cities in the United States become bike-friendly. Not only are more municipalities ceding roads for bike lanes, they are also adding bike share services so locals and tourists can get around the city quickly and in an environmentally-friendly way.

Our friends at Bicycling Magazine recently published their annual report on America's Top 50 Bike-Friendly Cities, which uses data from the Alliance for Biking and Walking and the League of American Bicyclists to rate cities with populations of 95,000 or more on their cycling infrastructure and bike culture.

The list is composed of the usual suspects, such as Portland, Oregon, which comes in at #1 for its "180 miles of bike lanes and 79 miles of off-street bike paths," as well as a host of other bike-friendly programs for its residents. But the top 10 list also includes large cities like Washington, DC (#4), Chicago (#5), and New York City (#7) because of their efforts to implement bike lanes and bike share services.

Read on to see where other bike-friendly cities ranked...
