Just in time for a blizzard in the Northeast U.S. and plenty of snow predicted for the rest of the winter, Google announced on Wednesday that it added 38 new ski resorts to web version and the smartphone app versions (Android and iPhone) of Google Maps.
The maps show ski lifts and runs, with green, blue, and black lines marking runs according to difficulty, and red dotted lines indicated ski lifts. Thirty-three of the 38 resorts that Google added are in the United States (the other five are in Canada) and are among the best places to ski and snowboard in the USA, including Aspen, Crested Butte, and Vail in Colorado; Alpine Meadows, Squaw Valley, and Sugar Bowl Resort in California; and Attitash and Okemo in New England. Google has also added street view for 13 resorts. This is an awesome collection of snowy landscapes and alpine villages, particularly useful if you want to get a feel for a resort before you book a ski trip.
