They're here! After yesterday's announcement of Chicago's Michelin-starred restaurants, we now know all of the restaurants in the USA that have earned Michelin stars for 2012. Here's the breakdown:
- New York City: 62 restaurants with Michelin stars (7-3 stars, 9-2 stars, 46-1 star)
- San Francisco/Bay Area/Wine Country: 47 restaurants with Michelin stars (2, 6, 39)
- Chicago: 21 restaurants with Michelin stars (1, 2, 18)
- Grand Total of Michelin-starred restaurants in the USA: 130 (10, 17, 103)
At present, Michelin inspectors only review restaurants in New York City, San Francisco/Bay Area/Wine Country, and Chicago. But hopefully in the coming years, other U.S. cities (perhaps Washington, DC, Boston, Los Angeles, and/or Seattle) will be considered for the honor. In the meantime, check out this list of Michelin-starred restaurants in the USA and start planning a culinary vacation.
