This coming Sunday marks the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. It has taken almost all of these 10 years for memorials at the three 9/11 attack sites - New York, Washington, and Shanksville, Pennsylvania - to take shape. While the 9/11 memorial at the Pentagon opened on September 11, 2008, the National September 11 Memorial and Museum at Ground Zero in New York City and the Flight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville, PA, will have their official dedications this weekend. Both will open to the public on September 12, 2011.
